Description
STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) DESIGN AND BUILD AN ADAPTIVE FLIGHT TRAINER (AFT) IN SUPPORT OF A RESEARCH PROJECT 1.0 Introduction. The Targeted Learning System Research Team has a requirement to conduct an experimental test to validate their research theories. The contractor is to provide two Adaptive Flight Trainer prototypes to support this test. 2.0 Task Description. 2.1 Purpose. To conduct a test validating the cognitive and kinesthetic transference of flying skills from the Virtual Reality (VR) environment to the physical environment utilizing an AFT to train test subjects. 3.0 Scope of Work 3.1 The contractor shall provide all necessary personnel, equipment, materials, and software identified in this SOW. 3.2 The contractor shall integrate all required equipment to produce two AFTs and provide technical support to ensure functionality during the test phase. 3.3 The contractor shall develop and build a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) within a VR Flight Simulation Software utilizing the module framework developed by the research team. They will also provide technical support to ensure functionality during the test phase. 3.4 The contractor shall develop and build a "debrief tool" visualizing the data from the AFT utilizing the design given by the research team. They will also provide technical support to ensure functionality during the test phase. 3.5 The contractor shall develop Biosensing software for use with the AFT to capture biological markers and cognitive load. They will also provide technical support to ensure functionality during the test phase. 3.6 The contractor shall develop and build an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform capable of determining subject performance and correlating Biosensing variables to performance to identify key indicators that could influence future performance. They will also provide technical support to ensure functionality during the test phase. 3.7 The contractor shall collect, store, and provide access to all data collected by the research team in support of the experimental test. 4.0 Deliverables Deliverable 1: 2x AFT Prototypes 4.1 The AFT is a VR flight simulator consisting of a VR headset, sound, a chair, a flight throttle, a flight joystick, rudder pedals, and a VR Flight Simulation software. 4.1.1 VR Headset: Includes the ability for head tracking and eye tracking with a camera capable of taking Biosensing measurements. 4.1.2 Chair: Includes one stationary chair and one chair that provides motion in at least two axis (if it can be constructed and delivered prior to the required testing date). Deliverable 2: Virtual Learning Environment 4.2 The VLE is an educational tool comprised of visual and audio cues embedded within the flight simulation software. 4.2.1 The VLE software must identify performance against established objectives while subjects are operating in the environment and provide guidance of performance to the subjects. 4.2.2 The VLE software must have the capability for individual subject login. 4.2.3 The VLE software must collect and store data of student performance, biosensing, and eye tracking. 4.2.4 Provide technical drawings for any software developed. Deliverable 3: Debrief Tool 4.3 The debrief tool will visually provide geospatial, delta of performance against objectives, cognitive load and heart rate, and eye tracking feedback to the subject immediately following their sortie. 4.3.1 The information must be able to be presented linearly in a "playback" format for the subject. 4.3.2 Provide technical drawings for any software developed. Deliverable 4: AI 4.4 The AI platform must be capable of determining subject performance and correlating Biosensing variables to performance to identify key indicators that could influence future performance. 4.4.1 Provide technical drawings for any software developed. 5.0 General Compliance Requirements 5.1 Documents and Records 5.1.1 All material, equipment, and software developed in the performance of the tasks listed in this statement of work shall be the property of the government and shall not be used or distributed by the contractor without written approval of the Contracting Officer. Any software already developed or proprietary to the contractor shall remain the property of the contractor who will grant use to in perpetuity. 5.2 Performance of Work 5.2.1 Services conducted will be in conformity with applicable regulations and industry standards to contribute maximum satisfaction to the responsible parties. Services shall be made with minimum divergence from schedules once established to ensure completion prior to the expected test schedule. 5.2.2 Inspection and acceptance will be conducted in accordance with this SOW.
