- Description
- Request for Information Defense Information System Agency Infrastructure Directorate COMSATCOM Technical Support Branch is seeking information from industry to assist with the development and planning of a potential new requirement. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP). NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. The Government's objective is to obtain information to determine to what extent vendors can monitor a global commercial satellite network to include a blended mix of: •· Hub networks •· Mesh networks •· Point to point networks •· Mobile terminals Examples of satellite modems currently used within the above networks: •· Linkway Master Reference Terminal •· iDirect Evolution •· iDirect Infiniti •· DMD-2050L •· VLM 7650 •· MD-1366 •· MPM 1000 The DoD is interested in understanding what metrics can be monitored on all network assets, in order to support bandwidth optimization, network efficiency, and command and control; these metrics, at a minimum, should include bandwidth utilization, satellite and terrestrial link throughput utilization, and terminal status. In addition to monitoring these networks, the DoD is interested in understanding if there are currently commercially available tools for gathering and disseminating this data in real-time or near real-time for use and view by Service and field level staff. If there are no currently commercial tools available, what timeframe would be necessary to develop this tool? What experience does industry have implementing, operating, and maintaining this tool? How would industry integrate this tool on to the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet)? What experience does industry have integrating network management and/or monitoring tools with SIPRNet? What is the anticipated timeframe for connecting the above tool onto SIPRNet?
