The purpose of this sources sought notice is to gain knowledge of qualified potential contractors and their socio-economic size classification. Responses will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After a review of the responses to this sources sought notice, a solicitation announcement may be posted to Federal Business Opportunity website (www.FBO.gov). A response to this sources sought notice is not an adequate reply to the forthcoming solicitation. The hardware to be installed will be compatible with existing, utilize Automatic Channel and Power Optimization to minimize common problems such as building attenuation and electronic interference. There should be a SMART RF feature of the switch/ controller to automatically optimize power and channel selection for each user. The channel selection feature will allow the Guest Internet Access Control System to coexist and operate without interfering with the existing administrative wireless system. The additional areas to be covered will be identified from a site visit with facility Electronics staff, subsequent heat mapping revisions and updated facility drawings. Each of the AP s will be connected and powered via Cat 6 plenum cabling. The Cat 6 cabling shall be run back to a closet IDF and terminated on a separate patch panel to be provided by the contractor. Before making any necessary firewall penetrations it will be coordinated and approved by the appropriate VA personnel. The entire Cat 6 cabling infrastructure shall be certified and carry a 20 year manufacturer s warranty. Each IDF shall be connected via existing fiber optic cabling back to the server room. Each pair of existing fibers that are to be utilized will be landed in a separate contractor provided fiber tray to provide the desired Air Gap between systems. All rack mounted equipment shall be landed in the existing racks. Contractor to install surge protected power strips in each of the IDF s as well as the server room to power and protect all new network equipment. The ISP shall extend from building #1 demarcation point to the designated server room rack. After completing the field installation phase, a commissioning phase will be completed. Commissioning will involve powering on all and verifying the field integration of that equipment with the structured cabling (new and existing). Next contractor will update, adjust, and optimize the equipment based on the final locations in the field. Contractor will verify all system levels and functionality in each location where coverage is expected. Contractor will integrate with the field services such as content filtering and network monitoring. Services: Contractor to provide public access internet services to include management of ISP services, help desk services for end users to contact a help desk in order to resolve common end user difficulties in connecting their devices and to the VGIA system, technical support line with technicians trained in Motorola systems available to local VA technical staff to work through specific issues within the system, network monitoring services to provide remote diagnostics by factory trained technicians for the VGIA solution to include updating of new software and firmware revisions, on site field services within 24 hours of a reported problem to resolve equipment failures, and content filtering service provided to prevent users from visiting inappropriate sites.
