Email information to donna.toliver3@va.gov About this product Manufacturer The Auto-reader 490 is a device that quickly and accurately detects spore growth within a biological indicator placed earlier within a hospital steam sterilization load. If the spore growth readout is negative, it signifies that the steam sterilization process was successful, and that the surgical instruments sterilized in the load are free from micro-organisms and safe to use during patient surgeries. The unique features of this Auto-reader includes spore growth readouts as fast as 30 minutes, a display that shows countdown minutes to when the biological indicator reading will be confirmed, software connectivity to instrument tracking systems, the ability to view the Auto-reader display from any internet-connected Smartphone or PC and a space-saving design that allows multiple readers to be securely stacked and backed tightly to a wall.
