- Description
- 1.PROJECT DESCRIPTION Reroof Building 453 Building 453 is a three-story facility with a rather small one-story entrance area. The one-story entrance area is not involved in this contract. The purpose of this contract is to provide and secure the reroofing of the three-story building portion complete and ready for use. The three-story roof has a level concrete roof deck, a parapet wall all around the roof area, and a roofed elevator shaft that extends above the three-story roof level. There is a rather extensive amount of HVAC ductwork that runs above the roof surface with vertical members extending through the roof to interior spaces below. The horizontal ductwork is supported by a combination of pipe and unistrut members, with the bottom of the ductwork being approximately 20-inches above the roof surface in most cases. Also, there are roof drains, overflow roof drains, HVAC roof mounted equipment, a metal screen wall that blocks the view of some of the roof mounted equipment, exhaust fan, vents through roof, a roof hatch, etc. Modified bitumen roof systems over roof insulation board exists. Roof slopes and warps are provided by tapered roof insulation. The work includes removing modified bitumen roofing systems, insulation board, wood blocking, flashing systems, and providing new wood blocking, roof insulation board, roof insulation cover board, fully adhered EPDM roofing systems, flashing systems, metal coping systems, and incidental related work. It is pointed out that rust/brown/silver paint on the existing roof hatch, and the steam relief vent contain lead. The contractor can dismantle the hatch in the manner it was innstalled and dispose of as construction and demolition debris. The contractor shall not disturb or perform any operation that creates lead dust or particles. Replace Roof Drains on Building 787 The work includes the removal and replacement of 55 existing roof drain strainer assemblies at Building 787. The project consists of the removal of 55 existing roof drain strainer assemblies, and the preparation of and installation of new Retro-Fit Drain assemblies. The work performed must conform to ANSI/SPRI RD-1 Performance Standards, as approved by roofing material manufacturer installation specifications to preserve roofing material warranty. Each Retro-Fit drain shall be tested in accordance with ASTM D5957-98 upon completion of installation and acceptance and incidental related work.
