These dead weight force calibrators are a primary force standard, as defined by ASTM E74. They will be used to calibrate force transducers such as load cells, tension links, crane scales, and other force measuring instruments in accordance with ASTM E74. The dead weights provided should be non-magnetic stainless steel or nickel plated steel and be calibrated directly by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, NIST. The calibrator can be used to calibrate tension and compression forces in both increasing and decreasing forces. Misalignment shall be minimized as such to calibrate load cells to an ASTM E74 standard deviation of +/- 0.0016% in increasing loading and +/- 0.0016% in decreasing loading.
