- Commercial Item Description, Draft RFI - Scale Portable, Vehicle REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) Scale Portable, Vehicle Replacement for NSN: 6670-01-532-9298 Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes (Oct 1997) (a) The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this solicitation or to otherwise pay for the information solicited except as an allowable cost under other contracts as provided in subsection 31.205-18, Bid and proposal costs, of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. (b) A lthough "proposal" and "offeror" are used in this Request for Information, your response will be treated as information only. It shall not be used as a proposal. (c) T his solicitation is issued for the purpose of market research in an effort to overcome barriers to competition for the Scale Portable, Vehicle. PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements to manufacture a Scale Portable, Vehicle. A description with preliminary parameters of the Scale Portable, Vehicle is attached in a draft commercial item description document. A brief description follows; The portable vehicle scale system is a multi-axle system set. This weight set shall be suitable for commercial and tactical vehicle weight, load and balance procedures. The weight set shall be rugged and reliable while exposed to inclement weather, water and dirt. The weighing set shall have an individual, single unit weigh capacity of 20,000 lbs. (9071.85 kg) ± 1%.The scale shall provide information for entry into "Cargo Movement Operations System" (CMOS) and the "Integrated Computerized Deployment System" (ICODES). This set is procured as a replacement for the item(s) stock listed under NSN 6670-01-532-9298.
