Description
SLAC seeks vendors that can provide the following: One (1) Each of Horizontal Cryogen-Free Dilution Refrigerator LCLS-II is building a superconducting x-ray spectrometer from arrays of cutting-edge transition edge sensors to perform at an energy resolution of 0.5 eV. This new TES Spectrometer will require a dilution refrigerator capable of interfacing with the specialized TES array and will be partially inserted into a secondary vacuum chamber with a liquid jet sample. Because this dilution refrigerator is a critical component of the overall TES Spectrometer, requirements for delivery are extremely strict: • Horizontal form factor for ease of maintenance and servicing cryogenic components at all temperature stages. A vertical fridge with a horizontal transition is unacceptable because of the cumbersome disassembly of vacuum jackets and infrared radiation shields. • Delivery of operating dilution refrigerator by September 2018. No exceptions. • Cooling power 450 microWatts at 100 mK, 15 microWatts at 20 mK • Cryogen-free with high capacity pulse tube Cryomech PT420 or equivalent • Base plate minimum diameter 250mm • Base plate weight suspension support for up to 10 kg • Radiation shields at 50K, 4K, 1K, 100mK with smallest diameter greater than 250mm. • Vibration <100nm peak-to-peak at base stage. <10 um peak-to-peak at cryocooler head. • Base temperature <10mK • Thermal stability better than 10 ppm in 60 minutes and 100 ppm in 600 minutes • Full automated cooldown and temperature monitoring • Lakeshore components for thermometry reading and temperature control. • Installation of SMA coax lines and fixed attenuators. Silver-coated copper nickel and NbTi • Installation of twisted pair (2x12) looms. Phosphor-bronze from room temperature to 4K, niobium-titanium from 4K to the mixing chamber. • Engineering support for plumbing fit-out and on-site installation • Portability option for moving and operating dilution refrigerator in different locations without installation of rigid still lines. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE. VENDORS INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS AN "INTERESTED PARTY" VIA THE FBO PORTAL. DO NOT CONTACT THE SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR.
