Background: The Synthetic Training Environment (STE) is the next generation simulation training program that will modernize the way the Army will train the Force in 2020 and beyond. The goal of the STE is to revolutionize training and build Army readiness. It will provide the needed capabilities to train from squad to brigade and above in a multi-domain environment, in training events that combine live and simulation training at locations across the world, wherever the operational force needs a training capability. The STE will enable Army units and leaders to conduct high quality, high repetition, realistic collective training with minimal overhead. Through use of an open architecture concept, the STE will support training for all warfighting functions, represent the full operational environment (i.e. land, air, maritime, space, cyber), to include the social, cognitive and physical elements of the Human Dimension.
