Description
MULTNOMAH CREEK TRAIL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT STATEMENT OF WORK This statement of work covers the replacement of a fallen tree and wild fire damaged trail bridge. The bridge is located in the CRGNSA on trail #441 at M.P. 1.9 (45.57139167, -122.10596944). By ground, the bridge is only accessible by trail. Presently the site is closed to the public. A prebid site visit date will be specified. This will be the only opportunity to visit the site during the bidding period. The project to replace Multnomah Creek trail bridge includes the following elements of work to be performed: 1) Removal of the existing damaged trail bridge superstructure. The existing trail bridge is a 60 foot span x 3 foot wide galvanized steel truss with pressure treated wood deck bridge superstructure on cast in place concrete and concrete filled pipe abutments. The wood components of the bridge were heavily burned in the fire and most no longer exist. Only the superstructure is to be removed. The abutment substructures are to remain in-place. The damaged superstructure is to be disconnected from the substructure by removal of the anchor bolt nuts or cutting the anchor bolts as required. The superstructure will then be helicoptered out in one piece to a designated heliport. 2) Disposal of the existing trail bridge superstructure. The superstructure becomes the property of the Contractor and is to be removed from Government property and properly disposed of. The existing bridge plans state un-welded edges of gusset plates were to be treated with red lead primer and painted. Prior to disposal or other activities that might create dust or paint chips at the un-welded edges of the gusset plates the Contractor will have the surfaces tested for the presence of lead. It is anticipated the testing will be performed after the superstructure has been transported to the heliport. If lead is present and will increase the Contractor's disposal cost's additional compensation maybe requested. 3) Supply of a prefabricated steel trail bridge. The Contractor shall supply and install a steel truss configuration trail bridge in accordance with the specifications and plans. The steel trail bridge to be designed and fabricated by an established company. Submittals are required to be approved by the C.O. prior to fabrication. The steel bridge will be delivered to the designated heliport, assembled, flown into the bridge site, and placed on prepared substructures. 4) Supply of decay resistant wood bridge deck planks. 5) Supply of concrete sill substructures. The Contractor shall supply and install concrete substructures (sills) in accordance with the specifications and plans. 6) *ALL MECHANIZED NOISE GENERATING (HELICOPTER FLIGHTS AND POWERED HAND TOOL USE) WORK AT THE BRIDGE SITE WILL BE COMPLETED BETWEEN OCTOBER 1, 2018 - November 30, 2018. FROM MARCH 1 - OCTOBER 1 AN OWL CLOSURE IS IN EFFECT AND NO OPERATIONS THAT GENERATE LOUD NOISE WILL BE PERFORMED AT THE SITE. 7) Minor bridge approach work. The new bridge deck elevation will be slightly higher than the existing bridge deck elevation and require construction of bridge approaches from materials on site. THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE POSTED ON FBO ON OR AROUND FEBRUARY 28, 2018
