- The intent of this contract is to secure services to reduce surface fuels loading and ladder fuels to a level that will allow safe fire suppression in the case of a wildfire, and contribute towards improved forest health and wildlife habitat, These services are to be implemented by hand cutting trees and brush, pruning of leave trees and chipping the resulting slash for fuels reduction, according to contract specifications. Cutting shall consist of hand cutting all trees (as specified in the contract) and all brush. Tree and brush cutting shall be done by hand with a chainsaw or manually operated shears in a manner that does not damage leave trees. Chipping shall consist of a tracked chipper and winching system to remove cut slash on slopes greater than 35%. The solicitation notice is expected to be posted on February 26, 2018.
