- Description
- This is a notice of intent not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The Government intends to award a fixed price purchase order to Therakos, Inc. Raritan, NJ 08869. The Department of Transfusion (DTM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center (CC), Bethesda, MD has a requirement to procure the supply listed below: Quantity Description Catalog Number 23 CellEx System Procedural Kit CLXUSA The purpose of this acquisition is the purchase of THERAKOS CELLEX Photopheresis SYSTEM Procedural Kits CLXUSA, for extracorporeal photopheresis therapy to patients post stem-cell transplantation. Extracorporeal Photopheresis is a recognized therapy for graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) post stem cell transplantation, particularly the steroid-refractory patient population. By American Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation criteria, steroid-refractory GVHD patients estimated probability of death from complications of steroid refractory GVHD is 75%, complications would most-likely be infectious. This therapy, in conjunction with other GVHD modalities is a second-line therapy and appears to substantially improve the dismal prognosis of patients who require salvage therapy for GVHD. If this is not received, this could further endanger the health of our patients, causing an increased risk for post-stem-cell transplant complications, infection and death.
