- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ intends to negotiate on a sole source basis for the issuance of a contract with Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc. to procure a Helicopter Operations Surveillance System (HOSS) (P/N 523921-20) for the LPD-29; in support of the Visual Landing Aids (VLA) program. The Government intends to procure the above items under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), FAR 6.302-1. Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc. is the original developer of the HOSS systems. The HOSS system consists of a single low-light zoom camera on a special pan/tilt unit designed for Radar Cross-Section Reduction (RCSR). The system will be utilized for surveillance of all air and deck operations on and around the Flight Deck. The system also provides for video recording of all video for training and accident analysis. Only Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc. can meet the form, fit and function requirements for this application. This is not a request for competitive proposals. However, responsible sources are encouraged to submit a response to this synopsis in writing that contains information that may be used by the Government to determine whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition based upon response(s) to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
