- Sources Sought Synopsis with Contractor Capability Survey SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS Metal Grating (Safety, Forward Cargo Floor Access) (NSN: 5670-01-243-8788) CAUTION: This market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Metal Grating (Safety, Forward Cargo Floor Access) for use by United States Air Force (USAF) personnel. The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. <h4 style="MARGIN-LEFT: 24pt; punctuation-wrap: simple; mso-line-break-override: restrictions"> PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the production data/repair data, expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements for the production/repair of Metal Grating (Safety, Forward Cargo Floor Access) NSN: 5670-01-243-8788 for USAF personnel. This is a build to print acquisition. Our acquisition strategy is a 4-year contract (basic plus three option years) and will continue through FY22, the requirement will also require a first article, first article test plan, and first article test report. The projected quantities will be a basic quantity of 4 with three option periods of 2 ea. TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART I - FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS, A FORWARD CARGO FLOOR ACCESS SAFETY METAL GRATING, P/N 17Gll0013-1 IS RECOMMENDED. THIS SAFETY GRATING WILL BE CONSTRUCTED OF COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM GRATING, 1 3/16 CENTERLINE SPACING BETWEEN BEARING BARS, WITH A FRAME (Z SECTION) ON THE OUTER PERIMETER. THE SPACING BETWEEN THE BARS IS SUFFICIENT TO PERMIT A GLOVED HAND TO LIFT THE SAFETY GRATING FROM THE INSTALLED POSITION. THE FRAME WILL REST ON A LOWER ONE INCH WIDE SURFACE (.40 INCHES BELOW THE CARGO FLOOR) AND WILL BE FLUSH WITH THE FLOOR WHEN INSTALLED. THE SAFETY GRATING WILL STAY IN PLACE WITHOUT THE AID OF LATCHES OR SUPPORTS. THE GRATING PATTERN WILL ALLOW FOR VENTILATION UNDER THE CARGO FLOOR. INSTALLATION/ REMOVAL OF THE SAFETY GRATING WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM ABOVE OR BELOW THE CARGO FLOOR. The Metal Grating (Safety, Forward Cargo Floor Access) should be fabricated IAW with attached drawings. A drawing package is available and will be provided at the time of solicitation. Multiple Sources Sought Synopsis are being posted to FBO for other NSNs for C-17 Support Equipment. Results from these sources sought synopsis may be used to combine similar requirements in an attempt to leverage economy of scale.
