TITLE "Getting Back 2 Business" FY18 Outreach Events ABOUT THIS EVENT The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) is hosting several community outreach events for small businesses. The OSDBU serves as advocates for small businesses by providing guidance, education, and support to internal and external stakeholders to maximize opportunity while maintaining accountability. The OSDBU provides information to businesses interested in doing business with the Federal Government. The community outreach event is directed at small businesses to educate them on federal procurement and provide information to 1) become familiar with processes and procedures associated with federal government contracting; and 2) identify and pursue contract opportunities with HHS. The objective of these outreach events is to engage, equip, and inform the small business participants of the federal procurement process so that they become more effective in pursuing contracting opportunities at HHS. This outreach event will be a full day of workshops and matchmaking/counseling. The event will include: Welcoming remarks from local dignitaries and representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Small Business Administration Information about federal government contracting Matchmaking and counseling Networking TIME: Event: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Onsite Registration: 7:00 am - 8:00 am EVENT DATES & LOCATION: • Wednesday, March 28, 2018 Macomb Community College 14500 E. 12 Mile Road South Campus, Building K Warren, MI 48088 • Wednesday, April 25, 2018 Community College of Denver Auraria Campus - Tivoli 900 Auraria Parkway Denver, CO 80204 • Wednesday, May 23, 2018 Midlands Technical College Harbison Theater 7300 College Street Irmo, SC 29063 • Tuesday, June 5, 2018 NIH Natcher Conference Center Building 45 Bethesda, MD 20894 COST: FREE - there is no cost to register REGISTRATION For businesses, there is a limit of 2 representatives per company per event. Please note that the total registration is limited. Pre-registration is required and limited. Registration will close when it is full. Small businesses interested in being educated about federal procurement opportunities. Why should I attend? - Familiarize small businesses with the processes and procedures associated with federal government contracting. - Gain insight on identifying and pursuing contract opportunities with HHS. - An opportunity for small businesses to meet with Government representatitves - Consider HHS spent over $24 Billion dollars in contracts last year; $5 Billion of them in prime contracts to small businesses You will also have the opportunity to register for matchmaking/counseling appointments with representatives from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), large prime contractors, and other government agencies. I'm a small business owner and can't stay for the entire event due to job commitments. Can I attend part of the workshop? We understand that your client and business responsibilities may overlap with the workshop schedule. However, this is an opportunity for you to get information on the federal government contracting process; participate in matchmaking sessions with representatives from the ten HHS Operating Divisions (OppDiv), representatives from prime contractors, and representatives from other related organizations; and network with potential teaming partners. You will get a positive benefit from attending and the event is a good use of your valuable time. I already know the basics of government contracting. How will this workshop help me? The federal government contracting environment is not static. At this event you will get up-to-date industry information, as well as insight directly from HHS representatives and prime contractors. You will also have the opportunity to interact with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) OSDBU representatives who will be on-site during the event.
