Description
Redacted JA IAW authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.5 and 41 U.S.C. 1901 the U.S. Department of the Air Force, Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Space Logistics Directorate contracting branch (SMC/PKL) located at Peterson AFB, CO negotiated a sole source Firm‐Fixed Price contract for fifty (50) of each of the following items: Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS‐I), Cables with RS‐232 interface and RS‐232 to USB Converters. The contract has been awarded to Inertial Labs (39959 Catoctin Ridge St, Paeonian Springs, VA 20129‐1745). The AHRS‐I model conclusively provided sufficient accurate heading, pitch and roll data to achieve satellite logon multiple times from different locations. Four AHRS‐I units and Cables with RS‐232 interface were purchased for a small scale, more in‐depth testing on 24 August 2017. After testing concluded, it has been determined that the AHRS‐I is currently the only device that will meet Government requirements. In addition, the AHRS‐I is the only device approved by the FAB‐T System Program Office to provide absolute orientation for the follow‐on terminal. Inertial Labs is the only source for the AHRS‐I as it is proprietary to them, there are no other authorized companies selling this item, and the AHRS‐I is not available on any GSA or other pre‐priced contracts, which validates the use of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
