- Sources Sought Synopsis with Contractor Capabilty Survey Sources Sought Synopsis Tool, Adjustment, Towbar Jaw (NSN 5220-01-383-3563) CAUTION: This market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Tool, Adjustment, Towbar Jaw for use by United States Air Force (USAF) personnel. The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. <h4 style="MARGIN-LEFT: 23pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 13.7pt; punctuation-wrap: simple; mso-line-break-override: restrictions; mso-line-height-rule: exactly"> PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the production data/repair data, expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements for the production/repair of Tool, Adjustment, Towbar Jaw NSN: 5220-01-383- 3563 for USAF personnel. This is a build to print acquisition. Our acquisition strategy is a 4- year contract (basic plus three option years) and will continue through FY22, the requirement will also require a first article, first article test plan, and first article test report. The projected quantities will be a basic quantity of 2 with three option perionds of 2 ea. THE NEWLY DEVELOPED, CONTRACTOR FURNISHED, TOWBAR JAW ADJUSTMENT TOOL. P/N 17G980004-l, OR EQUIVALENT, IS RECOMMENDED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART I - FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS. THE ADJUSTMENT TOOL CONSISTS OF A STAINLESS STEEL ROD, WHICH IS SEVEN INCHES IN LENGTH AND 2.25 INCHES IN DIAMETER. TO ADJUST THE TOWBAR JAW, THE HEAD IS REMOVED FROM THE ADAPTER PLATE. THE ADJUSTMENT TOOL IS CLAMPED INTO THE JAW OPENING TO DETERMINE THE ADJUSTMENT REQUIRED. THE CLEARANCE IS ADJUSTED BY REMOVING THE TOWBAR LOWER PLATE AND BY ADDING OR REMOVING SHIMS. THE JAWS ARE ASSEMBLED AND RECHECKED FOR CLEARANCE. The Tool, Adjustment, Towbar Jaw should be fabricated IAW with referenced drawings. A drawing package is available and will be provided at the time of solicitation. Multiple Sources Sought Synopsis are being posted to FBO for other NSNs for C-17 Support Equipment. Results from these sources sought synopsis may be used to combine similar requirements in an attempt to leverage economy of scale.
