Description

This RFI initiates communication with industry and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is analyzing market capabilities to identify potential sources for an 81 Millimeter (81mm) Advanced Capability Extended Range Mortar (ACERM). The Government intends the 81mm ACERM to be an affordable, long range, 81mm mortar projectile, with precision delivery against stationary and relocated targets. The 81mm ACERM will provide an organic, Non-Line-of-Sight precision 81mm mortar capability for Infantry Battalions. In support of the Infantry close fight, across the spectrum of the Full Range of Military Operations, and in all terrain and weather conditions, this capability should be reliable, responsive, and able to defeat high payoff targets. This capability includes incapacitating personnel within or behind structural barriers, inside light-skinned stationary vehicles, and in the open while minimizing collateral damage. The ACERM cartridge will be capable of being drop-fired from U.S. Army and Marine Corps 81mm smooth-bore, mortar systems.
