- Q & A's Ref.: NASA Hampton, VA Building 1244D, Storage Enclosure on Mezzanine Optional site visit will be allowed on March 21st 2018. Please respond by 4pm (CT) March 16th 2018 if you would like to schedule a site visit. You must be a US citizen for site access. Subsequent quotes will then be accepted until 4pm (CT) on April 11th 2018 Statement Of Work Extend the existing wet pipe sprinkler system into the new 3,120 sq. ft. Storage Room building in accordance with NFPA-13, and all local authorities. Work under this proposal at the existing 3 1/2" main that will be identified by NASA LaRC Fire Department during site visit. Design for the occupied spaces shall be ordinary hazard group 2 (.20/900 w/ 250gpm combine hose demand) for the storage unit. Adequate water shall be provided to the project to meet the design criteria without compensation the water supply. All groove pipes shall be black schedule 10 pipe with weld-lets and groove fittings. All threaded pipe shall be black schedule 40 pipe with cast iron fittings. Fittings, mechanical couplings, and rubber gaskets shall be supplied by the same manufacturer. Fittings shall be UL Fire Protection Directory listed or FM APP GUIDE approved for use in wet pipe sprinkler systems. Prior to commencing work, submit data showing that the Contractor has successfully installed fire suppression systems of the same type and design as specified herein, or that he has a firm contractual agreement with a subcontractor having the required experience. Include the names and locations of at least two installations where the Contractor, or the subcontractor referred to above, has installed such systems. Indicate the type and design of each system, and certify that the system has performed satisfactorily for a period of at least 18 months. Qualifications of System Technician: Installation drawings, shop drawing and as-built drawings shall be prepared, by or under the supervision of, an individual who is experienced with the types of works specified herein, and is currently certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) as an engineering technician with minimum Level-IV certification in Automatic Sprinkler System program. Contractor shall submit data for approval showing the name and certification of all involved individuals with such qualifications at or prior to submittal of drawings. Qualifications shall be submitted to Government. Upon completion, and before final acceptance of the work, submit a complete set of as-built drawings of each system. Furnish as-built (record) working drawings. Scope of work for the Fire Protection Sprinkler System shall include the following: • Labor, materials, and tax • Complete and approved shop drawings • Hydraulic calculations • Brass quick response upright sprinkler heads in exposed structure • Control valve with tamper switch located inside the storage room • Hanger to consist of 3/8" all thread rod drilled through the metal decking and double 3/8" nuts and washers. • Butterfly valve installed on the incoming main inside the storage room • Tie into the existing 3 1/2" main • Fire caulk all fire rated penetrations • Obtain current fire pump test results • NICET IV certification for designers and installers • Fire Protection Engineer Certification for design of fire suppression systems • Comply with all National code and NASA standards • NASA Safety meeting • Man lifts • Training (1) 2 hour sessions Task must be completed with Approval within 7 days. SECTION 2 INSTRUCTION TO OFFERORS ☒52.212-1 Instructions to Offerors - Commercial Items (Jan 2017) Addendum to 52.212-1 Quotes for the item(s) described in the RFQ are due by 04/11/2018 by 4 p.m. CT to Victoria C. Hargrave at Victoria.C.Hargrave@nasa.gov in order to be considered for award. If it is in the best interest of the Government, quotes submitted after the due date may be accepted. Quotes shall remain valid for 30 days unless otherwise expressly stated on the quote. Submitted Quotes shall list two points of contacts including name, phone number, and email address. All contractual and technical questions must be in writing (e-mail) to Victoria C. Hargrave at Victoria.C.Hargrave@nasa.gov no later than 04/10/2018 by 4 p.m. CT.
