- NOTICE OF INTENT The 502d Contracting Squadron intends to award a sole-source purchase order to The University of Texas, San Antonio, Center for Archaeological Research (UTSA) -CAR), 1 UTSA Circle, San Antonio, TX 78249-1644 to consolidate all archaeological collections under a curatorial agreement. Additionally, unprocessed soil sample excavated from the entrances of karst caves potentially containing archaeological deposits have been stored at Camp Bullis. These soil samples will be wet screened for bone and other archaeological or paleontological remains, which will then be conserved for future study. The nomination for the Cantonment District at Camp Bullis list 32 contributing landscape features such as culverts, open areas, gates and walls, etc. UTSA-CAR will document and provide a complete list of all contributing and non-contributing landscape features in the Cantonment District of Camp Bullis including descriptions, photographs, forms and GIS locations. The primary purpose of the contract is to consolidate JBSA collections into one convenient location which is a qualified designated repository under the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and meets the federal qualifications of 23CFR79, Section 6 (b) which requires a qualified institution close to the area where the artifacts were collected to allow Native American Tribes affiliated with the artifacts and other research access to the collections. UTSA-CAR is the only repository in Bexar County that meets these standards. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes. This notice of intent is neither a request for competitive quotes nor a solicitation for offers. However, all quotes received by 25 April 2018 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
