- Description
- This is a notice of the intent to issue a request for White Papers through the Sensors, Communications, and Electronics Consortium (SCEC) for a Family of Weapons Sights - Sniper Prototype effort. The Family of Weapons Sights - Sniper is a weapon mounted long-wave infrared sensor that mounts (compatible with MIL-STD-1913 rail) in-line with a Sniper's day optic, thus removing the need for a sniper to re-zero the weapon every time a sight is mounted on their platform. This system will utilize a 10/12 micron FPA that will enable them to accurately engage targets at longer ranges (up to 2,200 meters in clip on mode and up to 800 meters through smoke and obscurants) in day/night operations. The sight will be capable of supporting various Sniper platforms (including the M107, M2010, & M110), provide a ≥ 4 degrees Field of view, weigh 2.5 lbs. and operate for ≥ 7.0 hours. The sight will also be capable of communicating wirelessly with the Small Tactical Optical Rifle Mounted (STROM) Smaller, Lighter, eXtended Performance, Enhanced (SLX-e) Micro-Laser Rangefinder. This request is issued according to the authority provided under 10 U.S.C. 2371b, Other Transaction Authority for Prototypes. If interested in participating as a consortium member, contact the following: Eugene Del Coco 570-236-9889 edelcoco@sossecinc.com John Nunziato 603-458-5529 jnunziato@sossecinc.com
