Description

The Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) intends to issue a follow-on sole source contract to HITCO Carbon Composites, Inc., to convert AVTEX Rayon Cloth to Carbon Cloth for the Trident II Reentry Body Heatshield. This objective will be accomplished through converting the Rayon Cloth to Carbon Cloth, removing alkali metal contaminants (below 35ppm), testing (to physical, mechanical and chemical requirements), and storing the purified Carbon Cloth. The performance period is estimated to be five(5) years, which includes all options. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, all responses received within fifteen days of the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See Numbered Note 22.
