Description
The United States Air Force (USAF) Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Global Positioning Systems Directorate (SMC/GP), Contracting Office (PKL), Peterson Air Force Base, CO intends to release a solicitation and to negotiate the continued GPS Ground segment sustainment support as risk mitigation is required since the GPS Next Generation Operational Control System (OCX) initial operational capability has been delayed beyond the need date for the first launch of GPS III Space Vehicle 01 (SV01). GPS III satellites are currently being built for SMC by Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (LMSSC). There are approximately two dozen system modifications underway or in the planning stage to modernize the existing GPS Control Segment, the Architecture Evolution Program (AEP). These modifications address known critical requirement shortfalls in operational capability and cybersecurity areas needed to support the launch and control of the next generation of GPS III satellites scheduled for May 2018. One of the modifications currently on-going is the Contingency Flight Operations (COps) which requires a modification of AEP's operational Kalman filter. This modification requires integration with LMSSC-developed GPS III test tools for upload generation, an upload capability through LMSSC's Launch and Checkout Capability (LCC) or through AEP, and the tracking of legacy GPS III signals using the existing GPS monitoring stations. NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (03-AUG-2017). IT ACTUALLY APPEARED OR REAPPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 21-MAY-2018, BUT REAPPEARED IN THE FTP FEED FOR THIS POSTING DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
