- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to provide maintenance dredging of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) between Morehead City and Shallotte and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Fort Macon and Wrightsville Beach basins. The AIWW and USCG maintenance dredging work will consist of removal and disposal of shoaled material that has accumulated in the channels and basin since the various areas were last dredged. Dredging depth is 12' required depth plus 2' of allowable overdepth for the AIWW channels, 10' required depth plus 2' of allowable overdepth for the USCG Wrightsville Beach basin, and 22'required depth plus 2' of allowable overdepth for the Fort Macon USCG basin. The estimated quantities of material to be dredged are 400,000 cubic yards from the AIWW, 5,000 cubic yards from USCG Wrightsville Beach basin, and 80,000 cubic yards from the USCG Fort Macon basin. Disposal of dredged material will be on approved ocean beaches and upland disposal islands. The disposal islands are confined disposal areas with containment dikes and spillway systems. Spillway system repairs at the disposal islands will be required. All dredging shall be performed by hydraulic cutter suction dredge. There is an environmental window for placement of dredged material on ocean beaches which extends from 16 November to 31 March or from 16 November to 30 April depending on the beach disposal area location. There is no environmental dredging window for the AIWW channels. The environmental dredging window for the USCG basins is 1 October to 31 March. This solicitation is a 100% Small Business set-aside. The contract issued will be Firm Fixed Price. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.00. This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be available on or about June 28, 2018. The bid opening date will be specified in the solicitation when it is issued. No additional media (CD-ROM, floppy disks, facsimiles, etc) will be provided. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be available. Other methods of requesting a package will not be honored. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237990 - Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and the size standard is $27,500,000.00. Bidders must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) in order to be eligible to receive an award from any Government solicitation.
