Description
MARKET SURVEY ONLY - SEARCHING FOR CONTRACTORS ABLE TO PERFORM PER SCOPE BELOW. DO NOT SEND PROPOSALS The purchase of variable attenuators needed in the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) transmitter microwave assembly. These attenuators are to control the input and output Radio Frequency (RF) signals of the transmitter in order to align the transmitter. The TDWR provides real-time weather product information and is a safety and efficiency related operational part of the National Airspace System (NAS). This purchase is part of the TDWR Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) as mandated by congress. SCOPE: The Contractor shall have the following specifications of the variable attenuators: a)Quantity of 1128 units needed, all units shall be the same and made in USA. b)The attenuator or similar attenuator must have been used on other radar systems. c)Manufacturer must have had at least 10 years of RF experience in the manufacture of RF components. d)Reliability: The attenuator must have a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of at least 10 years. e)Electrical characteristics: (1)6 GHz frequency with 50 Ohm impedence (2)0-40 dB attenuation, with continuously variable attenuation control using a rotating dial with markings. (3)Average power handling capacity of 5 Watts. Duty cycle of 0.003. (4)Coaxial Small Microwave Adapter (SMA) female input and output connectors (5)Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) of 65 dB or better f)Mechanical characteristics: (1)Panel mountable for thickness no more than 5/32 (2)Exterior must be made of metal and powder coat painted (3)Must be sealed to prevent corrosion (4)Internal components must be made of metal (5)Dial can be made of other material besides metal (6)Removable dial for tuning with markings (7) diameter shaft no more than 0.925 long (8)Maximum depth from front plate, no more than 2.8 . (9)Maximum width, not including SMA connectors, no more than 2.5 . (10)Maximum thickness, no more than 0.67 . (11)Operating Temp. -50 C to +100 C (12)Storage Temp. -50 C to +100 C (13)Thermal Cycling MIL-STD-202 Method 107, Test B1 or equivalent (14)Vibration Random MIL-STD-810B para 4.5.2 method 514, procedure V or equivalent. SCHEDULE: The contractor shall deliver the items specified according to an agreed schedule between the contractor and the FAA. a)A quantity of 12 First Article units within 60 days of ARO. b)After FAA approval of First Article, within 90 days, all remaining units within a year. The contractor shall deliver the items and any documentation as necessary for long-term support through 2048.
