- FOR ALL INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT: This is a Market Survey to locate repair sources for the remanufacture of engines in direct support of the Deployable Power Generation and Distribution System (DPGDS) MEP-PU-810 A and B models. We are seeking repair services to remanufacture Caterpillar 3456 diesel engines being used in DPGDS Prime Power Units around the world. The engines power Caterpillar SR4B medium voltage alternators. The engines will be supplied removed from the power Units. The engines shall be remanufactured per Caterpillar technical documentation, to equal or surpass all Caterpillar inspection tolerances, to achieve warranty level performance of the completed engines. The Government will also identify a list of mandatory replacement parts that must be replaced on every engine remanufactured. The engines shall be tested on a dynamometer as part of acceptance testing. Respondents capable of remanufacturing these units must indicate, via email. The response should include production lead time, production capacity by month, ranges for price breaks if applicable, minimum order quantities, preferred method of pricing, and any other information that could affect the acquisition. Respondents must also state whether or not they; have access to a 900 HP Dynamometer, access to Caterpillar repair standards and tolerances, access to Caterpillar part numbers based on engine serial numbers, have a packaging and preservation capability. The information gathered from this announcement will be used to determine if responsible sources exist, and to assist in determining if this effort can be competitive and/or set aside for Small Business. Furthermore, the Government will use the information, in part, to determine the best acquisition strategy for a potential procurement action and to assist in making future acquisition strategy decisions. This is NOT a Request for Quote or Proposal. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or reimburse any costs associated with the preparation of responses to this RFI.
