Description

SOURCES SOUGHT The Contractor shall provide a quantity of one (1) gear head engine lathe for the Vehicle Technology Directorate, Autonomous Systems Division (RDRL-VTA) that meets the following minimum specifications: • Digital Readout (DRO) • Precision bearings supporting hardened and ground spindle • Splined shafts (not keyed) • constantly oiled gearbox • 1-1/2 inch bore spindle supported by precision tapered bearings • Hardened and ground gears in the headstock and gearbox • 6 inch 3-jaw direct mount chuck with top reversing jaws or larger • 8 inch 4-jaw independent chuck or larger • Coolant system with splash guard and foot brake • Range of Spindle Speeds (RPM): 40 - 1,800 or broader • Number of Longitudinal and Cross Feed Rates: 40 or more • Range of Longitudinal Feeds inches per revolution (IPR):.0012 -.0294 or broader • Range of Cross Feeds (IPR): 0.0003 - 0.0103. or broader • Swing Over Bed inches (In.): 13 inches or more • Swing Over Cross Slide (In.): 7-1/2 inches or more • Swing Through Gap (In.): 19 inches or more • Length of Gap (In.): 9-3/8 inches or more • Distance Between Centers (In.): 40 inches or more • Spindle Bore (In.): 1-1/2 inches or greater • Spindle Mount: D1-4 • Spindle Taper with Sleeve: Morse Taper number (MT): MT-5 (MT-3) • Motor: Three (3) Horse Power (HP), 230 Volts (V), 1 Phase or greater • Carriage Travel (In.): 37-1/2 inches or greater • Cross Slide Travel (In.): 6-3/8 inches or greater • Tailstock Spindle Travel (In.): 4-3/4 inches or more • Taper in Tailstock Spindle MT-3 • Overall Dimensions (L x W x H) (In.): 78 x 38 x 59 or less
