- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to require, on a sole source basis, a brand name requirement for the Schlage Door locks with Stanley Security Solutions BEST 7-Pin Removable Door Lock Cylinders with Removable Cores (Schlage/BEST) System. The Schlage Door locks with Stanley Security Solutions BEST 7-Pin Removable Door Lock Cylinders with Removable Cores (Schlage/BEST) System is the existing standardized door lock and cylinder/core system installed and operating campus wide. This project will include door lock and cylinder/core as an extension of the existing campus-wide, door lock and cylinder/core system; therefore, any door lock and cylinder/core system must be compatible with the existing standardized system. The campus has an existing locksmith with inventory of BEST 7-pin cores from Stanley Security Solutions; in order for the new door lock cylinders with removable cores on this project be coordinated with the existing locksmith and inventory, the door lock cylinders with removable cores must operate with BEST 7-Pin door lock cylinders with removable cores from Stanley Security Solutions. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can meet the requirements identified above and inherent with the referenced product. The Government is not obligated to, and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent. All responses received within 15 days of the posting of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government to require the brand name for VA Boston Healthcare System procurements based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to allow alternate manufacturers.
