The objective in permitting this activity on National Forest System lands is to provide high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of Sprinkler Lake Education Center, a Government-owned organization camp located on the Huron Shores District of the Huron-Manistee National Forests (HMNFs). By definition, an organization camp is a public or semipublic camp that: a. Is developed on National Forest System lands by a nonprofit organization or governmental entity; b. Provides a valuable service to the public by using National Forest System lands as a setting to introduce young people or individuals with a disability to activities that they may not otherwise experience and to educate them on natural resource issues; and c. Does not have raising of revenues through commercial activities as a primary purpose. Sprinkler Lake Education Center is situated along the northwest corner of Sprinkler Lake, approximately 8 miles northeast of Glennie and 7 miles south of Barton City, Michigan. The legal description of the facility's location is S1/2 NE1/4 of Section 32, T26N, R7E, Alcona County, Michigan. To get there from Oscoda, travel north on County Road F-41 for 14 miles. Turn left/west onto E. Mikado-Glennie Road for 9 miles. Turn right/north on Adams Road and travel just over 1 mile. The entrance to Sprinkler Lake Education Center is on your left. The site in this prospectus is not currently under a permit. A new special use permit will be issued authorizing this prospectus. The permit will begin in early 2019 and the term of the permit will be for ten (10) years, with an additional ten (10) years that may be awarded, non-competitively at the discretion of the Forest Service, upon satisfactory completion of the original term. If you decide to submit a proposal, your prospectus proposal must be received by close of business (4:00 p.m. - Eastern Time) on September 28 and must be submitted to: Leslie Auriemmo, Forest Supervisor ATTN: Andrea Tavegia, Realty Specialist Huron-Manistee National Forests 1755 S. Mitchell Street Cadillac, MI 49601 A selection will be made during the fall of 2018 so that a permit may be issued by the spring of 2019. Please review the prospectus carefully. Applicants are strongly encouraged to visit the site before submitting an application. The HMNFs will host a site visit at Sprinkler Lake on July 12th, 2018. If you are interested in participating you must contact Delynn Lovelace at 989-739-0728 ext 3032, or dlovelace@fs.fed.us by 4:00 PM on July 11th. Each applicant is expected to make an independent assessment of the business opportunity offered in this prospectus. Applicants must submit four (4) copies of their application package and supporting documents in hardcopy format. Unless requested in writing to return proposals, all unsuccessful applicants' proposals and supporting documents will be destroyed after the appropriate appeal period. Please review application procedures carefully as portions of the selected applicant's package will become part of the special use permit. Also, please ensure all requested information is submitted. Missing or incomplete information will result in a lower rating for the corresponding evaluation criteria.
