- Description
- The project is to design and construct expansions, alterations, and improvements to the site and facilities at the Marines Corps Reserve Center in Galveston, Texas. The existing Reserve Training Facility building (RTC, or main building) will undergo a comprehensive remodeling to meet the current functional needs of the Marines on site, who support an Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) program. The spaces will be utilized by Full-time staff and Reservist Marines in training and drilling activities. The building will house offices, classrooms, drill hall, and various other spaces. A covered weapon cleaning area will be added to the building in support of these operations. The Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF), which is part of the RTC building, will receive double its current number of open service bays, which will be used primarily in support of the Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs). Several other new spaces will be added to the existing VMF building program, including adjacent support rooms, equipment storage, and administrative offices. An annex to the RTC building will be constructed to house a number of functions that cannot fit within the existing building footprint. These include, but are not limited to, a supply warehouse, a gear locker room, restrooms, showers, and day lockers.
