These six units were produced sole source by Honeywell Inc., CAGE 94580. The APN-209/Altimeter/ (LRU), function by provide accurate height measurements above the ground with a high degree of accuracy and integrity during the approach, landing and climb phases of an aircraft. A high degree of accuracy and integrity of measurements must be achieved regardless of the terrain surface, such as during final approach and flare guidance in the last stages of automated approach to land. Altimeters also determine the particular altitude in which the aircraft can safely land. The system also provide input to the terrain awareness warning systems (TAWS), which gives a "pull up" warning at a predetermined altitude and closure rate. It supports the missions of the UH-60, CH-47 and AH-64 Army helicopters and their availability is essential to successful, safe missions. No technical data for the manufacture of these units is available from the Army. Any sources capable of manufacturing these units must so indicate, by writing to Commander, USACECOM, ATTN: RDER-PRA-AB, Building 6007, Aberdeen, MD 21005. The response must demonstrate knowledge of this APN-209, LRU, including physical and functional interchangeability at the shop replaceable unit and line replaceable unit. Potential sources must provide a current Air Worthiness Certification. For more information contact Noel Acevero, (443) 395-1262. Responses should be received no later than 22 June 2018. EMAIL noel.m.acevero.civ@mail.mil.
