Description
The Stanislaus National Forest, Summit Ranger District, intends to award a firm fixed price contract for services to stabilize and/or restore hydrologic function in five meadows. Description of Work: The hydrologic function of these meadows, Bloomer Lake, Bluff, Groundhog, Middle Three, and Upper Three Meadows, is either degraded by headcuts and gullying or threatened by headcuts. Stabilization of headcuts involves placing boulders, cobbles, gravels, and soil in the headcut to prevent future erosion. Treatment of gullying involves: (1) filling gullied sections of stream channels with soil to raise the stream bed, reshaping the stream channel and placing rock in certain locations along stream channel for stability, (2) complete filling of gullied sections of stream channel with soil and rerouting flow to previously abandoned stream channels, or (3) sloping back stream banks to a stable angle. Associated restoration tasks include collection of rock and fill materials, collection and replanting of vegetation, spreading wood straw in disturbed areas, dewatering of stream channels to protect water quality during construction activities, and temporary access route restoration. Location: The project is located on Stanislaus National Forest, Summit Ranger District. Starting from Sonora, drive east on Highway 108. Turn right (east) onto Herring Creek Road (4N12). Continue 6.8 miles until Herring Creek Road forks. Turn right (southeast). Bluff Meadow is located on the right 3.5 miles past the fork. At 4.5 miles past the fork, turn right onto FS road 5N67 to access Middle and Upper Three Meadows. These meadows are located on the right 0.4 and 0.5 miles, respectively, up FS road 5N67. To reach Groundhog Meadow, continue on Herring Creek Road 1.5 miles past the intersection with 5N67 and turn right (east) onto FS motorized trail 19DC189. Bloomer Lake can be accessed by FS road 4N12L near the intersection of FS road 4N12. This intersection is located 1 mile past Groundhog Meadow. Site visit is schedule for July 12, 2018, 9:00p.m., at Summit Ranger Station. #1 Pinecrest Lake Road, Pinecrest, CA. Total Small Business Set Aside Estimated Start date is Aug 15, 2018 Estimated date for solicitation posting is 6/26/2018.
