Current shade evaluation process remains unchanged for Class 2 Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OEF-CP): Sampling: Notwithstanding any current provisions of the fabric specification, solicitation or contract, the following shade evaluation shall apply. Fabric pieces will be cut by the Contractor from those rolls of fabric selected by the Government Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) in accordance with the table below. Pieces shall be 24 inches by full width for Operation Camouflage Pattern cloth. Lot Size No. of rolls to be Sampled 1 to 8 rolls Each roll 9 to 25 rolls 8 rolls 26 to 90 rolls 20 rolls 91 to 160 rolls 32 rolls over 160 rolls 1 out of every 5 rolls The Government representative shall ensure that each fabric piece is cut in half. Each half piece shall be identified with the roll number from which it was cut. A half piece is sent to Natick for evaluation and shall be no smaller than 24" x 30" for OCP. Each piece shall have identifier tags securely attached and a tally list of all the rolls being evaluated shall be included. All DD1222s shall include the contract number in block 3 and vendor email addresses in Box 4 and/or 17. The remaining pieces shall be retained at the Mill for use by the QAR. The Contractor shall send the pieces to be evaluated for shade along with a completed DD1222 to: US Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center ATTN: Melanie King/Rachel Matuszek 15 Kansas St Natick, MA 01760 Bldg 5 RM 122 RDNS-SEW-EWC 2 December 2014 SUBJECT: Sampling of Fabric for Shade Evaluation Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Sampling of Fabric for Shade Evaluation Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Completed DD1222s shall be emailed in a Microsoft Word document to Natick at the following email addresses: melanie.a.king14.civ@mail.mil; rachel.l.matuszek.civ@mail.mil Shade Uniformity: When Section 3 of the fabric specification contains a specific requirement for uniformity of shade and when the standard sample is referenced for uniformity of shade, the pieces submitted in accordance with sampling procedure above shall also be evaluated for uniformity of shade. Shade Evaluation: If one or more of the shade pieces submitted are found unacceptable, the entire lot shall be rejected. A lot that was rejected for shade may be screened and all rolls in the lot which were found unacceptable for shade shall be removed before such a lot is resubmitted. Resubmitted lots shall again be subjected to the sampling and shade evaluation prescribed herein. This requirement does not negate the Contractor's responsibility to perform shade evaluation prior to submittal of a lot to the Government. Each roll of fabric acceptable for shade from which a shade piece has been removed shall be cut by the Contractor from selvage to selvage so that there will be no evidence of the shade piece cut-out. The portion removed shall not be included in the yardage indicated on the piece ticket. If the Contractor reworks and resubmits rolls originally rejected for shade or finish, it shall not combine the rejected rolls with other lots or with lots rejected for other causes. Such rejected rolls shall be combined to form one resubmitted lot. Each piece shall retain its original piece number, suffixed with an "X". The lot number shall also be suffixed with an "X". Approval: The Prime Contractor shall not cut the fabric until the fabric has been approved for shade conformance via a DD 1222, or when a lot has failed that it has been accepted under a waiver via a completed DD3440. **End of Class 3, Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) shade evaluation direction.
