Description
***** Begin Word Document - 'FBO-DESCRIPTION' ***** REQUEST FOR INFORMATION SOURCES SOUGHT NAME BRAND REQUEST - GH3+ Guldmann Patient Lift System Contracting Office Address: Department of Veterans Affairs Program Contracting Activity Central 6150 Oak Tree Blvd, Suite 300 Independence, OH 44131 The Department of Veterans Affairs Long Beach (VALB) Healthcare System requires a quantity of four (4) GH3+ Guldmann Ceiling Lift System for the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center located at 5901 E. Seventh Street, Long Beach, CA 90822. The items shall be delivered to a warehouse located at 1964 W. Corporate Way, Anaheim, CA. The GH3+ Ceiling lift is a stationary lifting motor that is powerful enough to handle lifting and moving procedures in almost all professional care settings. The ceiling lift is easy to operate and helps make lifting and moving procedures safe, simple and comfortable for users and care staff. It is designed with a lifting capacity of up to 375 kg/825lbs on a single strap and is ideal for use in bariatric care. The GH3+ ceiling lift can be fitted with one or more modules from the Guldmann Care Lift Management (CLM) system, which streamlines everyday use of the ceiling hoist system and increases efficiency. These CLM modules can be used for monitoring and improving procedures for safe patient handling, and for optimizing resource planning. The purchase and installation of 4 Guldmann Ceiling Lift systems in Project 402 of VA Long Beach (VALB) Healthcare System is essential in the standardization of the whole facility. At present, 90% of VALB s ceiling lifts are Guldmann, while 10% are Hill-Rom Liko. As the Hill-Rom Liko ceiling lifts reaches the end of their life cycle, the ceiling lifts are replaced with Guldmann to ultimately reach 100% Guldmann only ceiling lifts in the entire facility. The Guldmann ceiling lifts are compatible with all slings used facility wide. The introduction of a third ceiling lift system at VALB is counterproductive to the standardization plan of VALB and the Safe Patient Handling and Mobility s VHA Directive 2010-032 (Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Program). This directive also specifies that new construction and renovation projects will incorporate patient handling and mobility technology appropriate to the type of care setting in the design phase. A standardized process of equipment use and sling mounting will increase safe patient movement. The likelihood of staff returning to manual means of patient movement increases with lack of familiarization of multiple movement systems. The use of identical equipment throughout he facility decreases the possibility of human error and enhances patient safety. The GH3+ is characterized by its simple design and developed for versatile application and different work processes. It can be used to assist care staff with additional care tasks like mobilization exercises, training and rehabilitation programs. The GH3+ also include features such as automatically recharging batteries and movement along a traverse rail, where the lifting module is operated either by a hand control or an infra-red (IR) remote control unit reducing unnecessary movement of patients. The GH3+ technology is intended to facilitate safe repositioning, mobility, and transport for patients and care staff alike. At present, the VALB staff are trained with the proper use of Guldmann ceiling lift system with different variations of slings. The VALB Biomed staff are currently certified by Guldmann, Inc. to perform annual inspection, maintenance, and repairs, which decreases overall work stoppage due to major mechanical issues. Guldmann also provides 2-years initial warranty on all hardware and motors (parts and labor) and includes the first 2-years of PMI, which value is estimating around $100,000. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price contract. This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition in accordance with FAR subpart 13.106. Please note that this is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements are invited to submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the product/services listed above. Deadline date for the submittal is July 20, 2018 at 4PM Eastern Daylight Time. The anticipated award date is September 9, 2018. Information received will be considered solely for determining method of solicitation. For information regarding this purchase, contact James Carson, Contract Specialist, at (216) 447-8300 or james.carson2@va.gov.
