The purpose of this contract is development and sustainment of core competencies in support of NASA sponsored work. Primary areas of NASA sponsored work: - Science Mission Directorate (Earth & Planetary Science, Heliophysics, and Astrophysics) - Aeronautics and space activities (development of spacecraft and instruments) - NASA sponsored research and analysis programs that carry out competed and peer-reviewed research - NASA partnerships with other government agencies, academia, and the private sector - Operation, research, and management of NASA's Deep Space Network In performing its role as FFRDC, Caltech through managing JPL provides unique expertise in research and technical areas including: Solar System Exploration Earth Exploration Astrophysics Mission Operations and Data Analysis Space Science Supporting Research and Analysis Life Sciences Deep Space Network Aeronautics and Space Technology Microgravity Science Performance Period Base period of performance: October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2023 Award Term 1 period of performance: October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024 Award Term 2 period of performance: October 1, 2024 - September 30, 2025 Award Term 3 period of performance: October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026 Award Term 4 period of performance: October 1, 2026 - September 30, 2027 Award Term 5 period of performance: October 1, 2027 - September 30, 2028
