- This is a notice of intent to increase the ceiling of Contract N66001-17-C-4015 to University of California Berkeley (UCB), awarded by SSC Pacific on behalf of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), Biological Technologies Office, (BTO) on 20 June 2017 in support of DARPA BTOs program Neural Engineering System Design (NESD). The additional effort will allow UCB to continue developing the technology of 3D imaging of cortical neurons and 3D stimulation of physiologically relevant neural ensembles. UCB will construct a miniaturized DMD compatible and DMD based read-write compressive light field which will be able to both image and stimulate the same number cell in the field of view. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541712. Due to the nature of Research and Development efforts, DARPA could not have reasonably estimated the results and additional needs for the research under this program, which has seen breakthroughs that will benefit from continued research under this current contract. This action includes a ceiling increase of approximately $200,000. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes, however, interested parties may submit comments in writing to the Contract Specialist, Mrs. Veronica Velarde, Code 22720, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific who may be reached by telephone at (619) 553-7734 or via email to veronica.velarde@navy.mil. This notice will be posted for 5 days. A determination by the Government not to compete based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
