- FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ANNOUNCEMENT: SPECIAL NOTICE CLASSIFICATION CODE: 66 - Instruments and Laboratory Equipment SUBJECT: Laser Heads CONTACT POINTS: Gizabi, Sedigah, Contract Specialist (301) 975-8429; Cowins, Robert, Contracting Officer (301) 975-8335 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole-source basis, with Keysight Technologies, under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), for the procurement of two (2) Laser Head Keysight Model 5517B to be used by NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML), in Gaithersburg, MD. ***** Sole source determination is based on the need to acquire two (2) Laser Head Keysight Model 5517B from Keysight Technologies. The two new Laser Heads will replace aging lasers on two of NIST high-accuracy Moore M48 Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). NIST PML performs many critical calibrations each year for external and internal customers using one of two Moore M48 CMMs. The CMMs have existing laser receivers, hardware interfaces, software interfaces and drivers, and laser head mounting fixtures that are designed specifically for the Keysight model 5517B laser head. The required Laser Heads must be compatible with NIST high-accuracy Moore M48 Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure continuous operation of the CMMs. ***** The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. ***** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. *****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice. Only responses received by 07/27/2018, 12:00 p.m., EST will be considered by the government. Responses shall be submitted via email to sedigah.gizabi@nist.gov or robert.cowins@nist.gov.
