- Amendment 0001: QUESTION: The solicitation specifically references threat E and Y, are there any other threats that will be tested (specifically threat D)? ANSWER: Only threats E and Y will be tested. QUESTION: For this effort, is the Government looking for backers to be supplied only? Or will the Government select a specific ceramic component to be paired with the backing at the vendor's facility? ANSWER: The first year of this effort will focus only on the backing materials and ballistic testing of the backing only. In year two we will downselect a backing material for torso plate testing. We can discuss the appropriate ceramic at that time. QUESTION: For this effort, is the objective a standalone plate or in-conjunction? ANSWER: The objective is for a standalone plate. QUESTION: Is there a weight reduction target for this effort? ANSWER: The congressional weight reduction goal is 20%.
