- T-53 RFI in pdf format 1. T-53 Aircrew Training Device (ATD) The Air Force has determined a need for a T-53 Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) for the USAF Academy (USAFA). The primary purpose of this AATD will be the training of instructor pilots (IPs) for emergency procedures. The T-53 is the USAFA version of the Cirrus SR20 aircraft. The aircraft is used to teach basic flight to USAFA Cadets. The Air Force is looking for one commercially available non-developmental AATD that matches the configuration of the T-53 and is level 4 certified. The AATD shall be in place, ready for training no later than 12 months after contract award. 2. Capability Required Prospective contractor(s) shall explain their capability to meet the following requirements. The following are not individual requirements, they are highlighted portions of the overall requirement and respondents shall demonstrate and explain their capability for the entire requirement. • Dual control • Garmin 1000 avionics package to include o GDU-1045 displays for both PFD and MFD o GCU-475 Alphanumeric Keypad o GFC-700 Integrated Autopilot with GMC-705 controller o GMA-347 Digital Audio Panel/Marker Beacon o Garmin GTX 33 o GIA 63W Integrated Avionics Unit o GRS 77 Altitude and Heading Reference System o GDC 74A Air Data Computer o GMU 44 Magnetometer o GEA 71 Engine/Airframe Unit • Additional T-53 systems to include o Jeppesen's Electronic Approach Plates o Terrain Awareness and Warning System o Electronic Checklists o Artex Aircraft Supplies, Inc. ME 406 o RDM 100 Recoverable Data Module • Cockpit layout must be identical to the T-53 except for cosmetic appearances • Flight control inputs and response must be capable of simulating all normal and emergency procedures to include but not limited to: o simulated engine failure o engine out glide operation o SFL or CAPS deployment/Spin with visual feedback to indicate if CAPS was deployed within or outside of the CAPS operational envelope o transition from visual to instrument references following inadvertent flight into IMC o aircraft control in all three axis with both primary and secondary flight controls • IP must be able to enter malfunctions and/or emergency situations from either seat or separate console • Instructor Operations Station required • Must use US 110V power • Commercial software provided as required • Operations and maintenance manuals required • 220 degree field of view required as minimum • Sound System to include engine and systems sounds • Ability to insert environmental conditions into the visual display • FAA Approval as an Advanced Aviation Training Device • Visuals must be accurate enough to simulate off-field landings during emergency procedures training • Software database must include the visuals/flying environment for the USAF Academy airfield, Bullseye Auxiliary airfield, and specified airfields within the local area (approximately 60 nm radius) 3. T-53 AATD Capability Information In response to this RFI, please provide the following capability information specific to the T-53 AATD requirements. 1. Describe your capability to satisfy the requirements stated in paragraph 2 in time timeframe identified in paragraph 1. 2. Describe your capability, and ROM cost, to extend the field of view to 270 degrees. 3. Describe your available training for operations and support of the AATD. 4. Provide the required footprint of your device including height requirement. 5. Do you provide or recommend an initial spares set? 6. Describe your standard and any enhanced warranty options available 7. Describe any maintenance plans which come with the system or may be purchased with the system 8. Provide ROM of cost for AATD with capabilities listed above 9. Provide ROM cost estimate for installation 10. Describe any extended support options you may have. Direct and concise responses are preferred. Marketing material is considered an insufficient response to this Capability Assessment/RFI. Please limit responses to electronic submissions no more than ten (10) single spaced 8.5"x11" pages (front and back), using Word or PDF format. This includes all graphs and charts. A point of contact that can represent your company should be identified to answer further Government inquiries and provide explanations that might be needed with regard to the information provided. Respondents should indicate which portions, if any, of their response are proprietary and should mark them accordingly. • Formal responses should be e-mailed to joshua.dishmon.1@us.af.mil. Responses are due NLT 3:00 PM EST 23 August 2018. The Government may converse with respondents regarding this RFI. Such conversations are intended to clarify potential capability to perform the requirements.
