The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Western Service Area has a requirement to install a new Precision Approach Path Indicator (TUT-PAPI) system and demolition of an existing Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI) system at Runway 05 on the Pago Pago International Airport (PPG), in American Samoa. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: Remove all VASI equipment including concrete foundations, handholes, and cables. Dispose of VASI equipment or return to local FAA office. 1.1.1 Construction of PAPI system The Contractor shall build the PAPI system as indicated on the construction drawings. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: install power feed disconnect switch at existing Glide Slope (GS) transformer, install power and control duct banks (consisting of underground conduit, cables, and pullboxes), construct control station with PAPI Power & Control Assembly (PCA) and Air to Ground (A/G) radio, construct PAPI Light House Assemblies (LHAs), install counterpoise grounding system, grade site as required and install new crush rock surfaces. Note: The work includes all electrical testing, Technical Reference Data Record (TRDR) as needed to commission the facility and be ready for flight check. 1.1.2 Demolition of VASI system The Contractor shall demolish the VASI system as indicated on the construction drawings. This work is to be completed after FAA acceptance and successful Flight Check of the PAPI system. Refer to the attached Project Specifications for a detailed description of the requirement.
