- Description
- Statement of Work Notice of Intent This contract action is for the acquisition of services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Macrogen Clinical Laboratory, Inc., 1330 Piccard Drive, Ste 103, Rockville, MD 20850, for the purchase of Whole Genome Sequencing on HiSeq X, 60X Sequencing Services. The Whole Genome Sequencing on HiSeq X, 60X Sequencing will be procured to identify molecular mechanisms underlying somatic genome instability in humans. Genomic DNA derived from blood and from clones of somatic cells will be whole-genome sequenced at high coverage (50-60x) (n=14). Somatic point mutations, insertions/deletions, and copy number alterations will be identified by comparing reads from blood with reads from somatic clone from the same individual. The Mechanisms of Genome Dynamics Group (MGDG) of the NIEHS will assess genetic changes found in somatic cells of human individuals identified through NIEHS Environmental Polymorphisms Registry. Whole Genome Sequencing will be performed on DNA from blood serving as a surrogate for germline and on DNA from clones of skin fibroblasts insolated from biopsies by The NIEHS Clinical Research Unit (CRU). The ability to maintain continuity of experimental procedures is crucial to the success of the Division of Intramural Research Group at the NIEHS, RTP, NC. It has been determined that Macrogen Clinical Laboratory, Inc., is the only known responsible source capable of providing this service and no other service will satisfy the agency's requirements.
