Description
Question: One question is in regards to what we can submit in our proposal besides pricing? I don't see an outline that would describe if you would like to see qualifications, capabilities, a suggested scope of work, and references. What information can we provide? Also, with the project, there isn't a defined scope for the exhibits. It will be a challenge to give a price when the exhibits can range from strictly graphic panels, to interactive elements, to audio visual and beyond. Will there be any additional information on the type of work that is being asked for to establish a more clearly defined cost estimate? Answer: The exhibit space should utilize a combination of graphic panels, current audio/visual technology, and interactive hands-on stations. We want this section of the visitor center to be geared towards experience-based learning, not solely static panels the visitor reads. Static panels should only play a supporting role. Following are some ideas for the exhibit. This is solely to demonstrate the type of exhibits we are looking for. None of these ideas are required to be included in the exhibit. • A life-size hologram of a researcher on the icefield who ‘talks' to the visitor sharing what they are doing • A station where visitors can actually take ice core samples and learn why scientists take samples on the Juneau Icefield. • An interactive map of the Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Icefield • Update/replace the ‘ice cave' to use current technology and lighting. Maybe even make the wall cold to the touch to engage multiple senses.
