- This is NOT a request for quote- USDA-ARS, Pullman, WA intends to award a sole source purchase order to GeneSeek. GeneSeek is the only vendor that can provide this specific genotyping for the OvineHD Beadchip. This array has more than 600,000 genomic variants which greatly increases the probability of identifying genomic regions associated with traits of interest. There are other commercially available ovine BeadChip, and is the Ovine SNP50 BeadChip which has approximately 54,000 genomic variants. This is the only other specialized geneotyping for sheep. The OvineHD BeadChip gives us much greater power to detect associated genomic regions compared with the Ovine SNP50 BeadChip. The other genotyping with approximately 54,000 genomic variants does not give us enough data for our current research and the 600,000 genomic variants gives us over 10 times the genomic variants which is necessary for our research. Additionally we have used this specific genotying on our first 1/3 of our sheep for the initial trial. This second run is for the rest of our sheep and using a different genotyping would not be comparable to the research that has already started. Purchasing from GeneSeek will ensure constituent genotype calls and correct results for analysis. Our justification to award is in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 - Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
