- Attachment 4 SECNAV Form 5512/1 (Base Access Request Form) Attachment 3 BSS General Sizing and Weight Parameters Attachment 2 NSWCCD Base Map Attachment 1 Agenda incl FAQd The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Advanced Propulsor Management Office (NSWC CD 807) intends to host an Industry Day on Monday, 17 September 2018 at NSWC CD in West Bethesda, MD beginning at 8:00 AM EST, see Attachments 1 (Agenda) and 2 (NSWC CD Base Map). The intent is to allow US Department of Defense (DoD) Contractors an opportunity to preview and discuss design drawings and an Assembly and Manufacturing Plan outline for the production of the COLUMBIA (CLB) Class Submarine Bearing Support Structure (BSS). Design drawings will be available for viewing, however contain Distribution Statement ‘D' information. Therefore, to be in accordance with DoD Directive 5230.25 (Withholding of Unclassified Technical Data from Public Disclosure) participants must be a US DoD Contractor with a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) DD Form 2345 (Military Critical Technical Data Agreement) approved and on file. The BSS is a large-scale propulsor component and is highly engineered, of tight tolerance, and complex assembly affixed to a full-scale Navy submarine. Further details will be discussed during the event. A general overview of the BSS component by size and weight is provided in Attachment 3 (BSS Component General Sizing and Weight Parameters). The industry participants will also be able to view the sizing and weight of the Ropeguard, Diver Access Panel, Tailcone, Super Forward Outer Structure, Aft Outer Structure, and Hydrophone Cover. This enables industry to determine if its capabilities could meet Navy demand. NSWC CD 807 is tasked to perform enterprise-wide submarine advanced propulsor manufacturing management. It is responsible for identifying potential sources capable of meeting any phase of manufacturing for advanced propulsor components that will result in on-time delivery to the shipbuilder. Further, the Advanced Propulsor Management Office is charged with developing future acquisition strategy to meet Navy propulsor requirements at the best value to the taxpayer. Contractors eligible to attend shall submit an approved DD Form 2345 (Military Critical Technical Data Agreement) and for each contractor personnel submit Attachment 4 (SECNAV Form 5512/1) as soon as possible but not later than Monday, September 3rd, 2018. The Government intends to provide additional information to authorized participants on or about September 12th, 2018. This includes a final agenda and summary type documentation. Attendance at this event shall not be considered a commitment of any kind by the Government. The Government will not reimburse any cost to prepare for or participate in Industry Day.
