- Description
- Notice of Intent- Nanostring Life Sciences Prep Station This contract action is for the acquisition of supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Nanostring Technologies, 530 Fairview Avenue North, Suite 2000, Seattle, WA 98109, for the acquisition of a Nanostring Life Sciences Prep Station. It has been determined that Nanostring Technologies, is the only known responsible source capable of providing the required instrument and no other instrument will satisfy the agency's requirements. The anticipated delivery time is 30 days, ARO. The applicable North American industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516 "Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing". Its associated Business Size Standard is 1,000 employees. The Nanostring Life Sciences Prep Station will provide the Division of Intramural Research, Molecular Genomics Core Group with the most appropriate reagents to perform high throughput analyses that are critical to completing current research in the lab. This instrument utilizes a novel digital coded barcode technology that is based on direct multiplex measurement of gene expression and offers high levels of precision and sensitivity (<1 copy per cell). The technology uses proprietary molecular "barcodes" and single molecule imaging to detect and count hundreds of unique transcripts in a single reaction which allows the Molecular Genomics Core to provide the Institute with high quality data using the latest in genomics technology. This instrument, in combination with Nanostring's reagents (CodeSets) allow the lab to perform experiments to assess gene expression changes in samples from multiple species. The ability to maintain continuity of experimental procedures is crucial to the success of the Division of Intramural research, Molecular Genomics Core Group at the NIEHS, RTP, NC.
