- Description
- Statement of Need Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center 3900 Woodland Ave Philadelphia, PA 19104 Title of Project: VHX-6000 Digital Microscope Zoom Lens (20x to 2000x) & 3D Measurement Software Scope of Work: The vendor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the deliverables described in this Statement of Need (SON), except as may otherwise be specified and deliver to the desired location within the timeframe specified. Type of Contract: Firm Fixed Price Period of Performance: Delivery Date within 30 days of Date of Award unless otherwise coordinated with the Point of Contact (POC). General Requirement: Using nanofabrication techniques, we have fabricated a variety of microelectrode arrays for interfacing with animal or human bodies. Currently, we focus on arrays used for monitoring neural activity in the brain, and for stimulating neurons to excite or inhibit their activity. Other arrays we fabricate are meant to record and stimulate in the muscular nervous system. We have plans to continue fabricating microelectrodes for uses across multiple disciplines, including neurology, orthopedics, and cardiology, to name only a few. Following fabrication of our arrays, we typically characterize the microscale structures via optical microscopy and measurements of surface properties. Until now, we have been using a number of systems at both the Philadelphia VAMC and at neighboring institutions, in order to complete these characterization tests. However, the systems we have been using do not allow us to image every region of the device with the same resolution, and we also cannot make as precise measurements of surface properties as we need. Furthermore, the tools we use for these measurements use different software and interfaces, making it difficult and time-consuming to collect all of the data and then organize it in an understandable and fluid way. Required Characteristics: The lens joint must be able to connect to the already purchased VHX-6000 digital microscope. The lens itself must have at least the following feature(s): be compatible with the VHX-6000 lens joint (see first bullet point); have a wide range of magnification (to image features sized from micrometers up to centimeters); be compatible with polarized, brightfield, darkfield, and mixed lighting microscopy; have chromatic aberration correction (to focus all colors to the same convergence point for an in-focus, real-color image); have glare/ring removal (to cut out reflected light); have self-tuning optics (i.e., optimizes its own running parameters and saves exact lighting conditions for reproducible imaging; to cut down on calibration time in each imaging session); and be able to be switched out with different magnification lenses on the VHX-6000 system. The software must be compatible with the already purchased VHX-6000 digital microscope system. Additionally, the software must have at least the following feature(s): 3D measurement capabilities (for profilometry, including roughness, height difference, and volume measurements within the microscope s field-of-view). The requested equipment meets all of the above requirements, as they are an attachment lens and the 3D software for the existing VA piece of equipment (i.e., the Keyence VHX-6000). Delivery: 1. Contractor shall provide delivery of the VHX-6000 Digital Microscope Zoom Lens (20x to 2000x) & 3D Measurement Software, a warranty and a plate washer assessor to the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VAMC 3900 Woodland Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19104 2. Please contact the Point of Contact to coordinate time for delivery within (30) calendar days of the contract award unless otherwise directed by the Contracting Officer (CO) or Point of Contact (POC).
