- The US Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service in Tucson, AZ has a requirement to perform aerial phytogeography The project consists of the National Ecological Observation Network (NEON), funded by the National Science Foundation and operated by Battelle Ecology, offers high-resolution imagery through their Airborne Observation Platform (AOP) The USDA intends on negotiating directly on a sole source basis with Battelle, through the NEON Assignable Assets Program, to contract for flights. Each flight includes 3, very high-resolution sensors, to collect true color (RGB - Red, Green, Blue) imagery at 10 cm resolution, waveform lidar at 4 points per meter2, and 426 bands of hyperspectral imagery at 1 meter resolution. Battelle will provide everything necessary to achieve the desired end product.
