Description
System Description RFQ letter Purchase Description Purchase of a PANalytical Empyrean X-Ray Diffraction System or Equal Background: An X-ray powder diffractometer is needed by the Materials Science & Engineering Division to support the AMCOM Corrosion Program Office with phase identification of corrosion products. Performance Requirements: The Diffractometer system shall be in an enclosure that prevents operator exposure from either direct or scattered x-ray beam. The enclosure shall meet all local, State, and Federal X-Ray radiation safety requirements for all possible anode types to include Copper, Cobalt, Chromium, Molybdenum, Manganese, and Silver. The doors shall be leaded and slide open for easy access to the goniometer optics and sample stages and be clear for viewing. The cabinet/enclosure shall have safety interlocks with electromagnetic shutter mechanism. The radiation cabinet shall have integrated lead sliding panels with direct beam stop. The cabinet interior shall be lighted. The diffraction system shall have a key lock to prevent unauthorized use of the system. Power settings for the diffractometer system shall be readily displayed on the front of the physical instrument. The radiation enclosure cabinet shall also contain an electronics rack and system controller. The X-ray Unit shall have two independent safety features that monitor when the shutter can open. If the doors to the cabinet are open, the shutter shall not open. System shall include data acquisition software that contains the following functionality: data acquisition based on the XRDML data platform, measurement strategy determination tools, configuration and measurement strategy determination tools, configuration and measurement management, automatic processing, data conversion and viewing functionality for X-ray diffraction systems. The analysis software shall be licensed for installation on up to three computers and not have to use license keys or dongles via hardware or network connectivity. Operation and execution of the software shall be fully multi-tasking with in the Windows 10 environment. The X-ray Tube Design shall allow the physical rotation of the X-ray Tube Body that results in the anode surface being rotated from line projection to point projection as required for utilization of maximum X-ray Tube flux in either line or point modes. Tube replacement and exchange should be possible by trained end user. The diffraction system shall have independent operation of each theta (omega) axis. The angular range of the goniometer shall be 360 degrees in omega without the use of accessories and -111 to 168 degrees for two-theta. Minimum step size shall be 0.0001 degrees in both omega and two-theta. Slew speed shall be at least 15 degrees per second. System shall include a pixilated solid state detector with a maximum pixel dimension of 55 micron. Detector to be maintenance free and not use detector gases. Additionally, the protective window of the detector shall not be made of toxic materials such as beryllium. X-ray Unit shall operate on Single Phase 180 - 253 V, 47 - 63 Hz System shall have an X-ray generator of 4kW (max 60kV, 100mA max), Tube voltage, 15 - 60 kV, Tube Current 5 - 60 mA. In addition to the above, the Diffraction system shall have the following: System shall have a 240mm minimum radius theta-theta goniometer and source module for the X-ray tube, Quantity 1. Sealed Tube, X-ray generator that is fully integrated within the automated diffraction system and is compatible with the goniometer, Quantity 1. X-ray Tube, Cobalt anode, Long Fine Focal spot to accommodate line and point focus. Max Power 1.8 kW, quantity 1 Square Sample Holders, Set of 25 square aluminum sample holders with a 15mm X 20mm area for powder specimens, used with a clip stage, quantity 1. Set of two (2) silicon single crystal substrates, 32 mm in diameter and 2mm thick, for measuring small amounts of sample material requiring low background intensity. One side of the substrate is flat, the other side recessed 15mm dia and 0.2mm deep, quantity 1. Multi-Purpose Sample Stage with manual phi and z axes to enable manual tilting over 6 degrees when doing phase analysis, omega-stress, reflectometry and thin film applications, quantity 1. Dial gauge for sample height adjustments and alignment to be used with proper positioning on the stage, quantity 1. Sample stage for sample spinning circular sample holders, with programmable phi-axis positioning or scanning. This stage shall be able to be used in both reflection and transmission mode. Also included is the sample spinner changer interface. Quantity 1. Set of Bottom sample plates (3 pieces) for sample holder rings, set of 3. Quantity 2. Sample Holder top, 16mm internal diameter, 2.4mm thickness, set of 3. Used for back-loading or front loading of powder specimens, either manually or semi-automatically, quantity 1. Powder Sample Preparation Kit for Round Powder Holders. Kit shall be comprised of a sample preparation table, a powder press block or piston, a dusting brush, and a Stanley Knife blade. Quantity 1. Sample Holder, 46mm internal diameter, 6.5mm max thickness, set of 3. For front loading of solid samples. Supports scans starting at 0 degrees 2theta. Quantity 1. Silicon Substrate, Zero Background insert, 32mm diameter, 2mm thickness, set of 2 silicon single crystal substrates. Used for measurements of small amounts of sample that requires low background intensity. Quantity 1. Transmission Holder, Set of 3. Accepts inserts of 6mm thick and 40 mm diameter. For analysis in the transmission geometry. Used for clamping thin foils or fibers. The inner diameter ring is 25mm, the maximum 2Theta angle is transmission geometry is 120 degrees. Quantity 1. Insert Transmission, Set of 3, Inserts for analyzing samples in transmission geometry. Inner diameter of the ring is 25mm, the maximum 2Theta angle in transmission geometry is 120 degrees. Box of 500 X-ray transparent foils, for use with insert for air sensitive sample holders, insert for transmission sample holders or disposable inserts for transmission sample holders, The foils have a diameter of 63.5mm and are cut in a circular shape. The material of the foils to be polyimide, with thickness of 7.5 micrometer. Quantity 1. Prefix, Parallel Plate Collimator to limit the angular divergence of a diffracted x-ray beam to 0.18 degrees, to include 0.1 mm slit for reflectivity measurements. Quantity 1. Large Beta-Filter Fe (for Cobalt Radiation), reducing Co K-Beta line to less than 1% of the Co K-Alpha intensity. Quantity 1. Soller Slit, Large 0.04 Radian, large aperture for diffracted beam anti-scatter device. Quantity 1. Interface for mounting a PIXcel detector on the flat graphite monochromator for Cobalt Radiation, Quantity 1. PIXcel PET detector and PreFIX interface for line and point detector applications. Features 99% count rate linearity to 98,000 cps per pixel, static 2theta range of 3.3 degrees at standard 240 mm radius and 6 degrees or 14.4 degrees static 2 theta range with optional radius reduction interfaces. Quantity 1. Electronics board for up to 2 linear detectors, Quantity 1. Fixed Antiscatter slit assembly for the PIXcel detector, Includes 13.4, 11.2, 7.5 and 6mm and one alignment slit of 0.2mm. Quantity 1. Chromium Reflectivity Reference Sample. Sample is comprised of a thin chromium film on glass that is used to check the alignment of the parallel plate collimators. Quantity 1. Supports user defined data bases, includes batch feature for auto function sequence, automation ready, similar analysis of scans, reference intensity ratio for estimation of quantities of all identified phases, percent crystallinity, fast profile fitting, line profile analysis, PLS partial least squares to determine/quantify one property directly from the raw data.
