- Amendment 0001/Solicitation 1232SD18B0018, Response to Questions. This Amendment #0001 to solicitation 1232SD18B0018 is issued pursuant to questions received from interested firms. All other firms interested to submit a "Bid" must include a signed copy of this amendment with their bids as confirmation having read the amendment. Q1. Is this section needed? C.2.7.3 OSHA training requirements shall be strictly enforced prior to the commencement of work. The job superintendent must be an OSHA certified "competent person" with 30 hours of training and all other employees work on the project must have a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA training. A1. Yes. Q2. The area shown on the plans appear to extend past the areas of existing asphalt, please clarify. (see attachments) A2. Area being done is existing asphalt only. The large area of grass will not be done. The drive area close to the building will be done, but only up to the area where the asphalt transitions to concrete close to the building. Q3. Is this section needed? 7. Contractor must have a superintendent on the job at all times when working on this project certified per Contractors SSSP/APP. It is acceptable to utilize any Subcontractors Superintendent if certified and included in SSS/APP and approved by CO. A3. Yes, superintendent is required. Prime contractor designates through their chain-of-command person to serve as acting superintendent. Q4. Are there any quantities listed for milling, crack filling, striping or asphalt overlay? A4. No. Q5. When the overlay starts will all cars be clear of the area? A5. The two parking lots will be cleared individually, but not at the same time. Q6. Due to the time of year and the cooler temperatures this project may not be performed this year. Is this acceptable? A6. Weather is unpredictable, but if the weather is not appropriate for this work, then it will be acceptable. But efforts are anticipated to get it done if practical. Q7. Luke mentioned additional striping, please clarify? A7. The original striping spaces that were striped but now the paint is barely visible. The striping will go between the 13 parking bumpers in the south parking lot. Q8. Is MDOT or MPWSS ok to apply for the hot mix design? A8. MDOT hot mix asphalt mix designs for overlays will be acceptable. MOOT 64/22 1/2" has been recommended by a contractor, but it could not be verified due to time, so if it is for suitable for 2" overlays, it will be acceptable. Q9. It was mentioned that testing will not be required, please clarify. A9. Initially no, but if the Government considers testing is needed it will modify the contract appropriately. Q10. Would you consider an asphalt mastic in place of milling & patching cracks? (There will be no bleed through with mastic) A10. Not at this time. Q11. What is the square footage for overlay? A11. The estimated Total Area is 5800 square yards plus or minus l0%. All other terms and conditions of the original solicitation remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
