- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) / National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)/ Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (DHNES), intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Hologic, Inc, of Marlborough, MA. CDC- NCHS intends to purchase three (3) Hologic Horizon-A Fan Beam DXA Systems. This DXA System is sold directly by the manufacturer. The Hologic Horizon-A Fan Beam DXA Systems will be used for the collection of whole body, proximal femur, anterior/posterior (AP) lumbar spine, and DXA scans. The Hologic DXA bone densitometers have been used to measure bone density in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) since 1988 and to measure total body composition since 1999. Due to compatibility and consistency of hardware, software, methods, codes, and unique QA and QC procedures used during the past 20 years, only the Horizon DXA system meets the Government's requirement for valid, reliable, reproducible, rapid, and reportable results. DXA bone densitometers manufactured by different companies use a different proprietary algorithm to estimate bone mineral, lean tissue, and fat mass which can result in different test results. It is necessary to purchase the DXA units from Hologic, Inc. to maintain the imaging integrity of the data collected and preserved in these devices. This will allow NHANES to continue studying the trends of osteoporosis and body composition changes in the U.S. population. This Procurement is for Commercial Items as defined by FAR Parts 2 & 12. This contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). The NAICS code for this action is 334517 and the small business size standard is 1000 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 10 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. Responses must include the DUNS of the company, and registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) will be required to be considered for award. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response must be emailed to Florence Black at fpblack@cdc.gov by 10:00 AM Eastern Time on October 25, 2018.
